US RTX 5090 Stock Shrinks to One Amazon Listing at $6,700

Newegg, Best Buy and B&H have not had a buyable RTX 5090 in PC Tech Vault's tracker since September 1. The one listing left is on Amazon at more than three times the $1,999 MSRP.

Four US shops carried the GeForce RTX 5090 in the tracker at the end of August. Since September 3, only one has. All figures below are US new retail, tax excluded, rounded to the dollar, and taken from captures through September 25.

The RTX 5090 is down to one shop

The tracker last recorded a buyable RTX 5090 at Newegg (about $5,000) and Best Buy ($4,830) on September 1, and at B&H Photo ($4,900, an ASUS ROG Astral) on August 29. Every capture since then has come from Amazon, and the Amazon price has climbed with nobody else on the page: $5,199 on September 3, $5,690 on September 9, $6,395 on September 15 and a high of $6,800 the next day. The latest, on September 25, was $6,700 for an ASUS ROG Astral OC.

That is 3.35 times the card's $1,999 launch MSRP. It is also $1,800 above the $4,900 typical price, the median of 37 captures from four sources over 90 days, most of which date from before the other shops dropped out.

The 34 percent 14-day rise on the tracker needs reading with that in mind. It compares a recent window of seven Amazon-only captures with an earlier one that still included Newegg and Best Buy, so part of the jump is the cheaper shops disappearing rather than any one shop raising its price. Most of the Amazon captures also do not identify which RTX 5090 model was listed, so the rise from $5,199 to $6,700 may span more than one card. What the data does support is simpler: for more than three weeks, the only RTX 5090 stock at the four tracked US shops has been on Amazon, and every price there has been above $5,000.

The rest of the RTX 50 high end is in stock and flat

The thin stock stops at the 5090. The three cards below it were each listed at all four shops on September 25, and none moved more than 2.4 percent over 14 days.

Card Launch MSRP Shops with stock Listed on Sep 25 14-day change
RTX 5070 $549 4 $840 to $870 +2.4%
RTX 5070 Ti $749 4 $1,120 to $1,150 +1.7%
RTX 5080 $999 4 $1,639 to $1,700 0.0%
RTX 5090 $1,999 1 $6,700 +34.0%

The RTX 5070's $870 at Newegg is the top of its 90-day range, a little past the $849 it reached last week. The cheapest RTX 5080, a PNY card at Amazon for $1,639, now sits more than $5,000 below the one RTX 5090 on offer.

The RTX 5050's price depends on which card is listed

Three of the four shops listed the RTX 5050 at $420 on September 25, all of them ASUS Dual models, which is 69 percent over the $249 launch MSRP. Newegg had a Gigabyte low-profile card at $310 the same day. The tracked median is up 5.9 percent over 14 days and 9.3 percent over 30, across 48 captures from four sources. A $288 Amazon capture on September 24 did not name the card, and Amazon's listing the next day was an ASUS Dual OC at $420.
