Kioxia introduces the LD4, its first E1.L SSD, with samples at 15.36 TB and 30.72 TB

Kioxia's LD4 is its first E1.L SSD, built on QLC flash for 1U servers. The 15.36 TB and 30.72 TB drives are sampling, and the release labels the PCIe link Gen 4 x4.

The successor to the first ten-million-IOPS drive was a 2027 part and is now a 2028 one, held there by a flash generation and a PCIe revision that both have to arrive first.

Kioxia and Sandisk show the highest-density QLC NAND yet at Flash Memory Summit, and LG Display cuts an OLED emissive layer to chase cheaper monitor panels.
