Gigabyte says every one of its Intel B760 and H610 motherboards now has BIOS support for new LGA1700 processors that it expects to launch in early 2027. In its announcement the company puts the DDR5 and DDR4 versions of these boards on equal footing, says the BIOS can be downloaded now, and calls itself the first in the industry to cover every B760 and H610 model.
Owners of existing B760 and H610 boards are told a BIOS update is all the board needs
The process it describes has three steps: download the BIOS, update, and fit the new CPU, with no board replacement and no rebuild. A DDR4 board therefore does not have to be traded for a DDR5 one to take the new chips, and the company points to a list of supported boards and BIOS versions on its website, which is the place to check a specific model before buying a processor.
The announcement names the boards but not a single processor
Gigabyte refers only to “upcoming LGA1700 processors”. It gives no model names, core counts, clocks or prices, and it lists only B760 and H610 boards, so it does not say whether other LGA1700 boards get the same BIOS. The early 2027 date is Gigabyte’s expectation, stated without any word from Intel in the release.
Until now the plan seems to have rested on leaks. PC Tech Vault covered the DDR4 angle when it first surfaced. A motherboard maker shipping BIOS support is a firmer sign than a leaked table that the socket is staying in use, but it confirms nothing about the chips themselves. For a B760 or H610 owner the board is not the limit; which processors arrive, at what price and with which memory support still comes from the next Intel announcement.
